Brief Description:  Drill hinge & skin, begin horn installation

1. Completed drilling #40 holes through skin pilot holes into elevator skeleton.

2. Called Caleb at ZAC regarding the 10-mm strip and shim shown on PAM 6T3B page 6. Caleb said that the shim could be cut from any available piece of 0.040 aluminum, and the 10-mm strip could be made from any scrap material.

3. I cut the 0.040 shim and 10-mm strip from ZAC supplied scrap using Olfa knife.

4. Used the drill press to drill 1/16" holes at the ends of the elevator hinge for safety wire. The 1/16" bit would "walk" off to the side of the hinge unless the hinge was center-punched precisely on the top of the cylindrical surface.

5. Cut the triangle holes for the elevator horn doubler using Olfa knife. I needed to put a piece of wood behind the skin for support while cutting. It was unclear to me whether the bottom hole should be 8-mm from the front edge of the bend in the skin, from the rear edge of the bend, or from somewhere else. I couldn't get through to ZAC to ask the question. I decided that the precise location was probably not too important, and chose to put it 8-mm from the rear edge of the bend.

6. Drilled #40 and clecoed the angle 6T3-7 to the inside front spar of the elevator.
