Brief Description: Build jig to support main spar for riveting
I decided to build some strong jigs to support the main spar for removing the rivets and riveting the new extruded spar cap angle. The jigs as built are shown in Fig. 1. Based on my practice riveting, I concluded that a sturdy triangular braced design was needed. It remains to be seen whether my design is actually strong enough. The hooks are a tight fit over the 3/4" plywood tabletop edges. When the jigs were hooked onto the table edge, the braced ends came about 1/4" up off the table, so I drilled a hole at the ends of the jig and screwed the ends down to the table. Fig. 3 is my dwg. of the jig. Fig. 2 shows the spar clamped to the jig.
