Brief Description:  INSTALLING THE DOOR HINGES

1 Positon the trimmed and fitted door into its seat in the fusalage.

2 Secure the door i place using tape. shims, tongue depressors instand glue, or any compination of these items.

3 Make releases for the hinges using the following steps.

4 Apply clear tpe , wax , or release agent to the underside of the hinges.

5 Fill the hinge pockets on both the door and the fusalage, and the depression on the backof the hinge with a mixture of 80% micro , 20%flox.

6 Align the door hinges within their respective pockets. Visually confirm that the hinge pins are aligned and the hinge surfaces are the same palne. Press the hinge into the joggles.

7 Smooth the flox level with the pocket and remove any axcess.

8 Allow the flox to fully cure.

9 Match drilll the hings tothe fusalage and the door.

10 Remove the hinges and clean them of any tape wax or release agent.

11Reinstall the hinges to the door.

12 On the inside of the fusalage crete a ard point behind the hinge pocket using a thick mixture of flox. The thickness of the hardpoint depends on the screwsbeing used. ref tofig 17.2.b.2 baggage door hinge hardpoints. coat the screws with wax and install them with washers ( AN970-3) and nuts (AN365-1032A) while the flox is atill wet. Tighten the nuts snug, but not tight.

13 Allow the flox to fully cure.

14 On the inside of the door , enlarge the match drilled hole toallow installation of the nut on the inner surface of the uter skin of the door.

15 Attach the hinges tothe door and the fusalage using screws, washers, and nuts. On the fusalage side use ( AN970-3 ) large ara washers and on the door side use ( AN960-10L) washers.
