THE DOOR SEAL IS INSTALLED AFTER THE AIRCRAFT HAS BEEN PAINTED.
1 Place the dorr on a clean padded surface.
2 Make a door seal stem hole by drilling a 1/4 hole through the inner door frame at the point halfway between the door hinge goggles and 1/2 above the inned face of the door.
3 Wearing a rubber gloves and using isopropyl alcohol, clen th bonding area on the door and wipe th door seal.
4 The door seal must be installed approx 1/4 from the door skin all the wa around the door. Using masking tape, electrical tpe, or similar, mask the door to outline the area to receive the seal. This will help keep the adhisive use more uniform and creat a more attractive appearance.
5 Before applying adhesive, test fit the seal around the perimeter of the door. Tkae note f the seal is to large because any slack will have to be uniformly distributed as it is installed around the perimeter of the door.
6 Apply a 1/4 bead of SWS951 clear silicone around the perimeter of the door.
7 Insert a .040 safety wire ( or sinilar) up through the door seal stem hole in the door. hook the wire through the very end of the stem. Using the wire, pull the door seal stem through the hole in the door and pull the seal flush against the clear silicone. Do not strech the seal. If the seal was found to be to large during the test fitting, remember to uniformly distribute any slack by commpressing or scrunching the seal as it is installed around the perimeter of the door.
8 Route the door seal around the door power conntacts,
9 Ste the door seal in place and seacure it using tounge depressors instant glueed in place at approximately 2 in intervals. Alternatly, the seal may be held in place using masking tape at 2 in intervals.
10 When the door seal is secured around the entire perimeter of the door allow the silicone sealant to ure for 24 hours.
11 After the cler silicone sealant has fully cured remove the masking tape and any excess silicone thn has extruded fro underneath the dooor seal.
