1 REF TO FIG 8.2.G.1 RIGHT GEAR PILLOW BLOCK AND ACTUATOR BRACKETS.
2 SUPPORT THE AIRCRAFT RAISED OFF THE GROUND. MAKE SURE THE AIRCRAFT IS LEVEL.
3 EACH PILLOW BLOCK REQUIRES 6 BOLTS, WASHERS AND LOCKNUTS FOR INSTALLATION. HOWEVER ONLY TWO HOLES ARE PRE DRILLLED IN THERE SEATS IN THE WING SPAR. THE REMAINING FOUR BOLTS FOR EACH PILLOW BLOCK MUST BE MATCH DRILLED AFTER THE MAIN GEAR HAVE BEEN ALIGNED.
4 INSTALL FORWRD PILLOW BLOCK BETWEEN THE FORWARD WING SPAR AND THE PILLOW BLOCK.
5 ATTCH THE PILLOW BLCOS USING THE HOLES PROVIDED IN THE WING SPARS. TIGHTEN THE BOLTS, BUT LEAVE THEM LOOSE ENOUGH TO ALLOW MOVMENT OF THE PILLOW BLOCKS.
6 THREAD THE PIN BEARING INTO THE TRUNNION TO A DEPTH THAT WILL ALLOW INSERTION INTO THR TRUNNION PILLOW BLOCK. THREAD THE LOCKNUT ONTO THIS PI BEARING.
7 INSERT THE TRUNNION PIN BEARINGS INTO THE PILLOW BLOCKS AND EXTEND THE ADJUSTABLE PIN BEARING UNTIL THE FACE PIN TOUGHES THE FACE OF THE SPHERICAL BEARING IN THE PILLOW BLOCK PLUS 1/4 TURN.
8 TIGHTEN THE LOCKNUT SNUG.
9 ALIGN THE PILLOW BLOCK AS FOLLOWS LOCATE THE CENTERLINE ON THE FIRWALL AND THE TAIL JACK POINT. FROM THESE TWO POINTS, DROP PLUMB BOBS AND ESTABLISH A AIRCRAFT CENERLINE REFERENCE ON HTE FLOOR USE A SMART LEVEL TO SET THE TRUNNION VERTICAL. MEASURE THE DISTANCE FROM THE POINT ON THE WHEEL DIRECTLY BELOWTHE AXLE TO THE CENTERLINE
NOTE. THE DISTANCE FROM THE WHEEL RIM TO THE CENTRE LINE OF TE AIRCRAFT NEED NOT BE EQUAL FROM ONE MAIN GEAR TO THE OTHER
PLACE AN ALUMINUN OR STEEL STRAIGHT EDGE ON THE WHEEL BELOW THE AXLE SO THAT IT EXTENDS THREE FEET FORWARD OF THE AXLE. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE STRAIGHT EDGE TOUCHES THE WHEEL AND NOT THE TIRE. DEFLATE THE TIRE OR INSTALL A SPACEROF EQUAL THINKNESS ON THE FORE AND AFT SIDE OF THE WHEEL IF NEEDED
MEASURE THE DISTANCE FROM THIS STRAIGHT EDGE TO THE CENTRE LINE.
ADJUST THE PILLOW BLOCKS SO THE DISTANCE THREE FEET FORWARD OF THE AXLE IS 0.31" (5/16") LESS THAN THE DISTANCE AT THEAXLE.THIS WILL SET THE TOE-IN AT 0.5 DEG
