Brief Description:  BATTERY TRAYS

THE BATTERY LOCATION IS ON THE AFT FACE OF THE FIRWALL. CONSTRUCTION IS IS OUT OF 4 PIECES OF SHEET ALUMINUM, RIVETS, HINGES, AND A LATCH . IT IS ATTACHED TO EACH SIDE OF THE TRAY WITH 3 SCREWS AND LOCKNUTS.

1 MAKE A 7 1/2 X 1 1/2 BLOCK OUT OF MEDIUM DENSITY FIBERBOARD ( MDF) OR NON POROUS WOOD. COVER THE BLOCK WITH CLEAR TAPE SO THE TRAYS MAT BE REMOVED AFTER CURING.

2 MAKE 8 BID CARBON LAYUPAT 45 OUT OF 13 X14 SHEETS.

3 WET OUT THE 8 BID ON THE TABLE, THEN LAY OT OVER THE BLOCK.

4 AFTER CURING, REMOVE THE BLOCK AND TRIM THE TRAYS AS SHOWN. FIG 10.2.E.1

5 BOND THE BATERY TRAY TO THE FIRWALL USING FLOX OR HYSOLAT THE LOCATION SHOWN IN FIG. 10.2.E.1.

6 LAYUP OUTSIDE PERIMETER OF THE TRAY WITH 3 WIDE 3 BID OF LAYUP.

7 CUT FOUR PIECES OF 1/8 THICK ALUMINUM SHEET TOTHE DIMENSIONS SHOWN PIECE ONE 6/1/4 LG. 3.3/16 . PIECE TWO 3 3/16 X 3 1/2

8 ATTACH THE LONGER PIECE OF ALUMINUM SHEET TOTHE SHORTER USING PIANO HINGER.

9 INSTALL THE LATCH

10 ANODIZE THE ASSEMBLE, ESPECIALLY ANY ALUMINUM COMPONENTS THAT CONTACT THE CARBON COMPOSITE. CORRISION OF THE ALUMINUM WILL OCCOUR IF IT IS NOT PROTECTED.

11 ATTACH THE BARRERY HOLDERS TO THE BATTERY TRAYS USING SCREWS, WASHERS, AND LOCKNUTS. USE TWO SCREWS PER BATTERY TRAY HALF
