Brief Description: final shape and fit attach angles to front spar
Finished shaping and smoothing attach brackets. Fit to spar using alignment hole. Purchased aluminum angle from OSH to align brackets. After attaching brackets and double checking everything I drilled out the remaining 8 holes in each bracket. After all holes were drilled and clecoed I suspected that the brackets were reversed. Before panicking I stopped. Cleaned up the work tables, put all the tools away. Came back and checked and rechecked - they were reversed. Checked plans, looked ahead to where plans attached empennage to fuselage and verified that it made a big difference. Called Vans on Friday morning and ordered new front spars and doubler. Drilling holes for attach brackets created a hole pattern unique to each bracket. Bummer. Cost of new parts $81. Should have them Feb 28 or 29th.
