I had some issues with one side of the elevator, and had to drill out the root rib rivets to reset the elevator length. The rivet holes became enlarged, and that left me with an issue. I talked to Sonex, and they offered two fixes:
1) Redo one side of the elevator
2) add additional rivets between each standard rivet hole
I decided to at least try #2, since I couldn't lose anything if I had to re-do the elevator anyway. It actually came out well, and each rivet is well over the critical 1/4" spacing (1/2 x rivet diameter) required for strength.
I'm waiting to hear from Sonex if this method will at all weaken the elevator strength. If not, I might just do the other side the same way (so they will at least look the same), and call it good. If there is a strength issue at all, I'll just re-make the elevator.
