Brief Description:  Elevator Final Assemby

I deburred the remaining elevator skin, and did some final clean up on some handling scratches in the ribs and skins. All parts were first sprayed with "Goof-Off" to get rid of any measuring marks or lablels. After that dried everything was wiped free of dust, metal shavings or other particles and blown out with compressed air. Finally I wiped eyerthing down with denatured alcohol to remove skin oils and other contaminates as much as possible before assembly.

I clecoed everything together, and started riveting! Everything lined up, and the elevators sit flat on both sides following riveting, so I don't think and twist or other warping crept into the process. I didn't like that to set the proper 78" length, I had to leave a little overhang on one side (visible in pic 2 on the left side), but the factory said that's not usual or problematic, so there you have it.

Picture three shows Maggie inspecting the final product for quality assurance purposes. :)
