Brief Description:  Completed Empennage

On Jan 3rd 2005 we finally completed the tail section. We are so thrilled that we can hardly wait for the wing componets to arrive. It was a lot of hard work but overall it was worth every minute. If I had to do it all over again I would:::::1. Follow the direction in order. I tended to jump around throughout the tail assembly. Some days I would work on the rudder, other days the elevators, or VS etc. Now that I have the pneumatic rivet squeezer, I will follow the wing assembly in order......2. I primed all the pieces at once. I primed all the ribs, spars, etc all at once. I may do the same for the wing componets because I was able to concentrate on using the spray gun for a week without having to do priming at different times as per the assembly instructions..... 3. What ever you do don't hurry. I rushed myself and screw up a few times....4. When you assemle/rivet the componets together follow the direction. A few times I riveted a componet when it wasn't call for. Needless to say, I had to take it apart because an associate part didn't fit...5. I know its difficult but you need to update the web site daily. Whatever your working on that day take a min of 3 pictures and update the Kit Log program. I tended to wait and it would take me to many hours trying to remember dates, times and project. Wing section will be much better.
