Prepped the left elevator skins by removing the blue vinyl. You have to make a bend on the close out tabs. Be sure to layout the top and bottom skins and which one is the top and which one is the bottom, then be sure to label them inside and outside. The close out tabs will point to the inside of each skin and once they are put together, the top skin will overlap the bottom skin. Use the drawings to make the sharpie line. Be sure align the line with the correct part of the fillets. Then you clamp it to a bench and bend it. I started the bend with a block of wood and once it was bent over a little I tapped the wood with a hammer to get it close to 90 degrees. Fine tuned it with seaming pliers. The tricky part is measuring the 1/64 and 1/32 overhang from the sharpie line. They are small dimensions. Next was making a 11/16" cut on one of the rear spars. I used the band saw then finished with the 3M cut and polish wheel on the bench grinder. This spar now becomes the right side spar. Make sure to cut the correct end...there are 4 holes in the web on one end and 2 holes in the web on the other end. Be sure to cut the end with the 4 holes. This will leave 2 holes in the end on each end. If you do it wrong, you'll end up with 4 holes in one end and no holes in the other end.
