Those lame, single button, wooden stick grips had to go, so I ordered up a pair of the sweet Infinity stick grips I have in the RV-8. I got all of the same button color and type allocations and wired them into the system exactly the same as the RV-8 as well. Now from the stick grip you can control the Radio Push To Talk, the Electric Flaps Up & Down, the Electric Elevator Trip Up & Down, the Electric Aileron Trim Left & Right, the Auto Pilot Engage/Disengage, the Engine Starter, and the Acknowledge button for the VP-200. You literally never have to take your hands off the controls (the stick and throttle) when taking off and landing. The buttons are all pretty intuitively laid out too so you can just find the button without having to look down at the stick either. So not only are they new grips crazy cool looking and very comfortable, the serve an equally important function related to cockpit safety.
The grips may look like they are mounted at a pretty extreme and odd angle with the left one being turned clockwise about 45 degrees from "straight" and the right one being turned counterclockwise about 45 degrees from "straight". But, you'll find that when you sit in the airplane normally, your arm and elbow come at the grip at exactly a 45 degree angle and so the grips position assure that your wrist is nicely centered and avoids the dreaded Carpar Tunnel Syndrome.
