It's the new year, so I decided to get out in the shop and finally bend this rudder. I noticed the bending brake was a bit weathered and cupped, so I bought new 2x6s and then asked around to borrow a jointer to make sure they were true. After no luck, I bought a hand planer and spent about an hour trueing up the boards and hinging them to make the new tool. It still took me several hours on and off to work out how to make the bend correctly. In the end, I think I have the process figured out so the elevators won't vex me as much. After the bend, I clecoed in the rudder spar and riblets to see what the final shape would be.
