Riveted the shield to the supports and removed the clamps. Used the angle grinder to trim the supports and shield to shape at both ends. Sanded the top of the rivets smooth. Flocked into the joint, then glassed over the joint.
Would have been a lot easier to add a shield into the mold in the first place ...........
