Brief Description:  First attempt to fit wing spars into the spar box.

The Easter project was to fit the wing spars so the spar box could be fixed in position - allowing the interior work to progress.

Moved the fuse and stands out to the driveway and brought the wings from the living room to the garage. Trial fitted the wings to the spar box to make sure all could fit. Then pulled it all apart and bolted the spar box into the fuse.

First wing went in OK (starboard) but the second wing (port) would not fit - wouldn't even slide fully home. Some careful inspection found that the bottom of the spar was grounding on the bottom of the fuse (even with all dags etc removed) and the top of the spar was jambing against the top of the spar box. Couldn't lower the spar any (or would have no fuse under it!) so the spar box had to be lifted. I checked all the measurements - and they were as per the instructions - but nothing was going to happen until that side of the spar box was lifted 1/8" at least.

So put the wings back into the living room and brought the plane back into the garage. Filled the spar box holes - then sanded and redrilled the holes the next day - 1/8" higher. Did cause some excitement in the street to have the plane on the driveway for the first time.
