Brief Description:  Fitting rudder bracket bearings

Getting ready to fit the rudder - so have to install the bearings in the rudder brackets. The holes measured 0.635 and the bearings 0.655 - so had to widen the holes 20 thou (the birthday electronic micrometer proved invaluable - so thanks Christine & Rodney!). I ended up fitting a 5/8 drill bit into the drill press and reaming with that to get close. When I got to 1 thou oversize I put the bearing in the freezer, then tapped it in with a socket. As the bearing is slightly V shaped (the centre of the race is slightly smaller than the outside edges) it was still only a loose slide fit. I carefully applied L680 to lock it in place - then peaned around at 1/8 from the bearing. This is experimental work for me so I didn't want any chance of the bearing moving. I then touched up the paint on the bracket to ensure no rusting could start. Did the upper and lower bracket.
