Brief Description:  Final WOT static engine test.

Tidied up a few more details. Reinstalled the old fuel pressure sender unit as the replacement unit still hasn't arrived (I suspect the suppliers forgot to order it ...). It is not needed as a VFR instrument minimum so I have disabled the fuel pressure read-out on the Skyview. When the new unit eventually arrives I'll swap it over and see if it reads reasonably - if it does I'll activate the reading on the Skyview.

Drained the small amount of fuel remaining in the tanks - it is a few wekks old now so somewhat stale. Used the electric boost furl pump to pump out the tanks.

Then pushed the plane outside (in the dark at about 7.30pm ...) and again tied it to the car. Warmed it up then applied WOT (Wide Open Throttle) and held it open for a minute. The engine gave 2,950 to 3,000 rpm for the full minute - this should give a reasonable safety margin for the first take-off. Ed (and Sheryl) listened outside. Ed moved in to behind the cockpit so he could read the gauges and nearly got blown away for his trouble. I thought it ran roughly but Ed advised that the roughness was most likely the prop tips cavitating from being at close full speed while not moving forward.

We are now right to do the final checks and take it up for its first flight tomorrow - pending OK weather and finding no faults ....
