Brief Description:  Fitting Ailerons

Productive but slow day. Lots of fiddling to get simple jobs done. Worked out how to refit the ailerons and align and fit the short push tubes. Fitted the flaps and discovered the aileron bracket bolt heads fouled the flaps so had to rejig the way the bolts fitted to get clearance.

No guidance on where to cut the holes in the back of wing rear spar for the small tube to pass through - so back the slow process of estimation and a small hole drilled - then assemble everything and check. Can't work on the hole with the ailerons & flaps attached, so they came on and off many times ...!

Went to fit the end-cones to the long push tubes and off course they didn't fit. So lots of sanding and filing - and placing the end-cones in the freezer and pouring boiling water over the tubes - and in they went.

Good fun fitting the bolts and nuts to the aileron bell-crank inside the wing. Dropped a bolt inside the wing. Could see it but not reach it. Did a hanger walk until I located a magnetic "pickerupperer" to use to retrieve the bolt. About an hour of fiddling finished the bell-crank in right wing - it is close to ready for install. The left wing needs some light surgery to get the aileron to fit properly, but the push tubes are ready to be installed so SHOULD be a 1/2 day job now to have the wings ready to install.
