Brief Description: Preparing the wings for final fitting
Bought 4 boxes and packed a portable tool collection that I can dump on the workbench, then load reasonably quickly into the car to take to the airfield to work on the plane.
Ran the cabling and wired uip the landing light. Fitted the landing light and the clear cover.
Assembled the all push tubes for the ailerons - had to "tap" out the powder coat from the threads on the ball joints first. All pieces are now ready to fit the ailerons and push tubes.
Went to fit the straner bolt into the fuel tank - would only wind in about 2 turns out of the 9 on the bolt - only just holding. Cleaned the threads (had some resin in them) and tried again - same result. Looked at another Lightning and the strainer nuts were only about 2 turns in. Spent some time hunting for a 1/2" bsp tap to REALLY clean the threads but didn't have one in my collection.
Drilled a 1 1/2' hole in on each side of the fuse to sight the fuel level sender "led"s so I can see them with a mirror when calibrating the fuel tanks later.
