Brief Description: Riveting the Horizontal Stabilizer
Had difficulty driving the rivets holding HS-404L to HS-702 and HS-405L. Rivet shank tips to one side as soon as the rivet gun is “fired.” Too difficult to hold “set” with HS-405 in the way.
I have an 1/8” offset set, but did not know the technique to keep it at the optimum position by using tape to keep it from spinning. Wasted most of the day trying to drive the rivet correctly.
Will go to the next larger sized rivet and squeeze the rivet with the pneumatic squeezer.
Jim Ellis thinks he has a set that will allow me to drive this rivet. I’ll order one from Avery. In the meantime, I’ll work on the elevator stiffeners.
