Brief Description: Fuselage - MOD L/G Box for serviceability - Design
After many consideration, I decided that the initial design principle for modifiying the L/G boxes to allow easy internal access during aircraft service wasn't up to standards. I had overcountersunk holes in F802E and F802F angles for #8 screw, and therefore I needed replacement parts. While there, I decided to order replacement F802C Box web. Also, I had concerns about landing stress loads in angles that were way too much oversized drilled and countersunk for nut plates required for the new box access cover. I did not want to deal with replacing crack angles when aircraft is in service. For such reason, I decided to cancel this mod, and use another common design principle, the oversize oblong hole in F802C web. Therefore that day, I did:
- Create an enlarge oblong access hole by cutting material between bottom oblong hole and center circular hole with sheet metal snips. - Deburred the new enlarged oblong hole in both F802C LH and RH - Fabricated two oblong cover plates from scrap 0,032" aluminum sheet metal
