Brief Description: Fuselage - Preparation for Final Assembly
Last day of 2016...a great year for building my RV-8 !
During the afternoon prior to family dinner plan for New Year's Eve, I continued the various steps for fuselage preparation toward final assembly, I devoted my time to working on the fwd fuse and the seat rib sub assembly. To perform task per Van's instruction, I had to use a tool that I believe I would discard when I purchased the DRDT-2....the C-Frame. Well, I found some good use for it, and now, I will not sell it !
This afternoon, I did:
- Dimpled the dia #40 holes found in between the row of rivet common the the Center Section. Dimpled the same holes on the F826 and F827 seat rib skins. - Dimple the dia #30 holes in F826 and F827 common with the F822 floor and Center Section. I used the pneumatic squeezer for the first row, then use the C-Frame for the second row. - Dimpled the dia #40 holes at the back end of seat rib F826 and F827 skins. Same as for the front end, I used both the squeezer and the C-Frame for dimpling
