Brief Description:  Tool & Shop Organization - Fuselage Assembly Jig

This afternoon, prior to start working on the RV-8 project itself, my first task was to remove and relocate as much as possible tools and parts I had stored so far in the room next to my shop space. During winter, I have taken the opportunity to "expand" my shop while the building owner was away in Florida. Now that I am "expanding" in another part of the shop for fuselage final assembly, I do not want to have the owner complain and start charging me more for floor space usage...I also took the opportunity to knock down the Pick-up jig I've been using to rivet Seat Rib, and use the wood to complete my fuselage assembly jig.

When my shop clean up was completed, I resumed working on the fuselage assembly jig. First order of the day was to make sure it is level. I added shims under some jig legs, but overall, the jig was pretty much level anyway. Once that was done, I started cutting 2 X 4 wood studs that will act as main support for the parts. I came back during the evening, I started laying out steel angles, screwing them to studs. I am not yet done with this, but I started laying the fwd floor and seat rib structure on the jig to get an understanding for their position.

Not counting the time I used to clean up the shop, I worked about an hour before dinner, and two hours in the evening on this fuselage jig.
