The last two days, I worked toward bending the Upper Longeron F887 to drawing dimension. I have anticipated this moment for a while. I guess it is mainly because of the shipping cost I paid for those longerons, I didn't want to make a mistake.
Because I didn't have a flat surface to make chalk line as a reference, I decided to buy some MDF sheets, lay them on the floor and draw all the reference lines and dimensions to it. My dad and I came with the idea to make jig stops and use this "jig" in the three dimensions. The objective was then to bend the longeron to shape in the vise, end verify our bends in the jig.
I worked Saturday afternoon and evening on the jig. I finished it Sunday afternoon. Then my Dad came to the shop, and it took no time, maybe an hour and a half to bend the longeron to perfection.
Very satisfiying to have this completed !
I clocked 10 hours for this, but I am unsure of the time spend on this.
