On this Wednesday, I was not quite motivated to work in the shop. Neither was I motivated to look for a new job. Thus, I went to the shop and worked on the airplane anyway. There are days when I feel that this RV-8 project is too large project, and I wonder if I am even going to be able to afford an airplane later in my life to way things are going with my career. Nevertheless, I am sure than one rivet at a time, I will get there. It will fly someday. It doesn't matter when.
Despite being moody today, I think I have accomplished good things:
- On Bulkhead F807B-1, I finalized seatbealt harness fairlead installation prep by dimpling both the bulkhead frame and the fairleads together with the DRDT-2
- Similarly, I fitted the F882-1 Canopy rail receptacle on frame F807B-1, and dimpled both parts
- Once worked done on F807B-1, I moved on to work on F812 bulkhead. I joined F812A and F812E together, and match drill the dia #30 holes per instruction, and added clecos
- Prior to dinner, I started to open the angle on the flanges of F812A with the hand seamer to make them parallel with F812E, and completed the task after dinner.
- Next step, after retrieving the tail wheel assembly and disassembly the WD809 from it, I started the process to locate the tailwheel weldment on the fwd face of bulkhead F812. It took me a while to find a solution to clamp it into place until I realized I have Vise-Grip clamps in my stock of clamps. I had purchase those maybe two years ago, but had never used them before !
- I drilled the dia #30 keeper rivet holes with the bench press, after again trying to find the best solution to mount it on the press drill table.
- Per the instruction, I then countersunk the dia #30 keeper rivets hole on the aft face of bulkhead F812, and stop there for the evening.
today, I worked from 14h30 until 18h00, then from 20h30 until 22h00
