Day 014 Tie Down Point, Rear Rudder Post and More...

More Photos and Further Notes can be seen at Build Log Day 14.

Another great day, moved forward and managed to get quite a few things done, sadly (Depends on your point of view) could only spend a few hours on the aircraft today, duties elswhere kept me away from the A/C.

Got the rudder post fitted and secured in place, this is a major triumph, so much fuffind around, and its looking good, not quite square, but this will be pulled in when the cables are put into place. Scott came over today to give me a quick inspection, and to suggest the creation and installation of a Tie down point for the rear of the aircraft, great idea, I would have through about it when the thing was completed!!

The bracket is 70mm Long, the holes for the two bolts are 6.5mm and are centred at 11mm and 61mm, but if you use this for yours just check, its a great idea. The largest drill bit that I have in the kit is 10mm, but after it was created, and drilled and mounted, and it looks great, BUT, the ropes in my tie down kit 12mm, so I will remake it tomorrow!

Fixed the problem with the longeron bearing on the threads, cut a small cresent moon out of the tube, and sanded back, now it all fits like it is supposed to, and even more square than what it was previously.
