Brief Description: Fabricated wiring for position and wingtip strobe
Some builders used door jam wire eliminators for contacts on the folding wings to power wing lights and I considered that and even bought 4 pin contacts. If I had the wire eliminators before building the doublers at the fold interface I probably would have used them. I had hoped to mount them in the forward lightening holes but that just didn't work out.
Went back to the drawing board and came up with this. Made an angle mounting bracket and used 525 8R 18 bolts to secure the connector to the angle and then mounted the angle inside of the forward lightening hole on the outboard wing with about 1/2 inch of the connector sticking out. I found that mounting the connector at the bottom of the lightening hole worked the best when folding the wing up, So the outboard connection is solid and I left enough extra cable in the inboard space between the ribs for the wing to be folded up far enough to disconnect the two. I have a flexible protective covering over the inboard wires to keep them together. I also used a piece of thin wall irrigation tubing in the outboard wing as a wire conduit in case I have any wiring problems and need to pull in new wire.
