Brief Description:  Misc wing stuff

Made a tie down ring spacer from a nylon bushing I bought at Ace hardware. The purpose of the spacer is to provide a positive stop for the ring against the tie down fitting inside the wing to prevent the ring from contacting and damaging the leading edge skin. First I drilled and tapped the bushing's ID to 3/8 -16 to match the threads on the tied down ring. I then opened up the tie down hole in the LH wing LE skin to roughly ½” diameter to allow the bushing to pass through. I threaded the bushing all the way on the tie down ring, threaded the ring into the tie down fitting and marked the bushing where the LH skin intersected it. Then I took the bushing off and cut it slightly longer than where the line was marked and then threaded it back on the tie down ring. With the spacer in place the tie ring will tighten against the tie down fitting and there is a slight gap between the ring and the skin. I borrowed this idea from a few builders’ logs I saw on line and I’m very happy with how it came out.
Later in the day I also deburred the RH LE ribs and straightened their flanges.
