Brief Description:  Brake fluid and ELT test

Filled the brake system with fluid using a garden sprayer to force the fluid up from the bleed screw on the caliper to the fill port at the top of the reservoir. Tested the brake pedals. They felt firm but both of the fittings at the tops of the grove gear are leaking. A number of builders have reported this problem with the grove gear. The fix will likely be to remove the gear legs and fitting, run a tap through the hole to clean up the threads and cut them deeper, and then reinstall the gear.

Fabricated a test tool using a 2V LED, a 300 ohm resistor and two test leads per the ACK ELT instructions. Connected the test tool to the ELT verification test line. Pushed the airplane outside and powered up the avionics. Once the IFD-440 navigator was receiving a good satellite signal the LED on the test tool began flashing which verified that the ELT is receiving GPS location information. Removed the test tool and sealed the ELT test line with shrink tubing.

Ran an ELT self-test. Verified operation by receiving the ELT signal on a hand-held VHF tuned to 121.5.

Installed the aft baggage shelf and bulkhead.
