Another milestone today putting the wings on for the first time. Al and Dave, fellow RV builders from the airport helped out and the wings went on fairly easily in a half hour or so.
In addition, I did the following today:
Fabricated a replacement canopy latch. I used the old one as a pattern but left it a little big in the inside of the “L” where it latches on the pin because the I had taken too much off of the old one. I expected to have to do multiple iterations of test-trim-test but it seems to be perfect as is with no additional trim necessary. Now I just need to paint it.
Installed the missing 90 deg fitting on the RH brake caliper
Tightened the brake lines that connect the calipers to the bottom of the Grove landing gear legs.
Torqued the brake caliper bolts to 90 in-lbs and safety wired them.
Started to lay out the cut lines for the RH fuel tank attach angle
Cut the flap push rods to length and drilled the ends 1 inch deep with a 7/32 drill Fabricated a gauge for use in checking the angle of incendence of the wings
