Brief Description:  Engine hookups part 4

I decided not to use the Van's supplied mixture control bellcrank and instead I'll route the mixture cable under the engine and support the forward end with a custom bracket bolted to the bottom of engine. Today I fabricated the bracket using a piece of left over aluminum angle with a hole drilled in one flange for the mixture cable and two holes in the other flange that match the threaded holes on the bottom of the engine sump. I bent the vertical leg of the angle about 10 degrees aft so that the cable exits the bracket at an upward angle directly at the attach point on the fuel servo. I sprayed a coat of engine paint primer and baked the bracket in the oven for cure. Tomorrow I'll paint the bracket with white engine paint.

I worked out the position of the bracket using the throttle cable since it’s five inches longer that the mixture cable so I placed an order with Van’s today for a second throttle cable that I’ll install in place of the mixture cable.

Installed a nipple fitting in the #3 cylinder for the manifold pressure line and attached the flexible MP hose to it.

Installed a straight tube adapter fitting in the manifold block. Attached a piece of tygon tubing to the tube adapter and the Dynon MP sensor. Secured the tube at both ends with safety wire - EDIT: This hose was later replaced with a rubber hose (see log entry from 1-26-21)
