Earlier I had mounted the Dynon manifold pressure sensor to the right hand side of the firewall near the transducer manifold. The recommended location for picking up the manifold pressure from the engine is on the number 3 cylinder which is on the right hand side. The Van’s firewall forward kit came with a nipple fitting to thread into the cylinder, a 21.5 inch long flexible hose and a bulkhead fitting on the assumption that the MP sensor is located behind the firewall. For my installation I’m only using the nipple and hose. The hose isn’t nearly long enough to reach the sensor, but it does reach the firewall so I decided to fabricate a tube from soft aluminum to mount to the firewall routed from the location where the flexible hose meets the firewall to the manifold block. A short piece of flexible plastic tubing will run from the transducer manifold to the sensor. The right hand end of the tube will be secured to the firewall by a small bracket made from aluminum angle. The angle has a 7/16 inch hole in which an AN823 45 degree elbow will be mounted and the elbow will be the transition from the line to the hose.
Tonight I got the nipple and a plug installed in the sensor manifold, fabricated the aluminum line, fabricated the elbow bracket and drilled #40 holes in the firewall and bracket so it can be clecoed in place. I need to order the fitting and hose to connect the sensor to the manifold block and another nipple to connect the hose to the engine. I’m also going to clean up and paint the bracket and rivet it to the firewall.
Tonight I also connected the hose for the oil pressure sensor to the 45 deg fitting that's mounted to the back of the engine. Torqued and torque striped the hose.
