Brief Description:  Hung Engine

Big day today. The engine is now mounted on the front of the airplane. I have read that you shouldn't install the engine without at least one extra set of hands but I gave it a shot alone and had no trouble. I followed the procedure found in "27 Years of the Rv-ator" (available from Van's) and installed the bolts in the order they recommended (RH top - LH top - RH bottom and LH bottom). Most of them went in without too much difficulty after some tweaking of the engine hoist and trying different combinations of tightening/loosening previously installed bolts. The last one, as predicted by the instructions was the most difficult. For that one I ended up using a ratchet strap to pull the forward rubber mount downward to line it up with the hole in the engine. I was then able to use a ratchet wrench to turn the bolt which pulled it into the hole in the engine block. Once all the nuts were on and hand tightened I then torqued the bolts per spec for AN7 bolts (475 in-lbs)
