Brief Description:  Canopy latch

Removed the tape and peel ply from the horizontal stab and elevator tips. Turns out the fiberglass/epoxy added more thickness than I had anticipated and the gap between the stabilizer and left elevator is smaller than the specified 1/8 inch minimum. The Right side might be OK but it will be close. I'll know after I do some sanding. For the left side I'll probably end up cutting the aft end of the tip and fabricating a new plywood closeout.

Built the canopy latch assembly. Cut away the latch arm until it could be locked without putting any forward force on the canopy.

Drilled the latch handle shaft for the screw that holds the outside handle. Filed the inboard boss of the outside latch so that it wouldn't rub on the canopy skirt.

Primered, painted and baked the canopy latch and latch handle.

Sanded the micro on the rudder tip and applied another coat.

Laid up two small plies on the canopy on an area where the skirt is trimmed too low. Installed the canopy skirt on top of the plies.

Mixed up some epoxy/flox/cabosil and pushed it under the canopy skirt in the areas where it didn't contact the fuselage.
