Brief Description:  Canopy skirt part 16 and Rudder fiberglass

Sanded the aft end of the canopy skirt with a taper in local areas and applied epoxy/flox to two areas. One was at the top edge where the plies had been sanded too thin and cracked. The other was around the canopy slider track.

Drilled and cut the aft end of the rudder bottom for the tail light mount that I purchased from Cleaveland tools. Riveted the mount in place.

Temporarily installed the vertical stabilizer and hung the rudder to check the fit of the rudder bottom compared to the fuselage tailcone. Looked good.

Fabricated aluminum strips to reinforce the fiberglass rudder tip. The flanges on the pre-fabricated fiberglass tip were a little short so the holes that were drilled to that the ones in the rudder skin ended up with short edge distance. Hence the need or the reinforcement strips. Drilled the strips to match the rivet holes in the cap. Drilled #40 holes in the tip and reinforcement strips. Counter sank the cap and installed flush rivets. Mixed up some epoxy/flox and spread it on the exposed edges of the reinforcement strip to extend the edge of the cap

Removed the rudder and vertical stabilizer.

Drilled the remainder of the mounting holes for the rudder bottom.
