I wanted to fabricate a two position canopy latch so that the canopy could be opened a few inches during taxi allowin air flow for cooling the pilot and passengers. The material this was fabrocted from was an aluminum rectangular tub which was given to me by a fellow EAA member. This member also had C&C equipment that allowed the material to be cut very prcisely. After it had been split and cut to length we drew the shape of the kit supplied latch on new material and added a second lower notch to the drawing. Then cut out the two notch latch. It was challenging to locate the mounting holes but managed it. Once the part was installed on the canopy there wer several areas which required additional shapping. Also the longer latch area need to be bent gently so that it would naturally fall into the longeron openings,
