Brief Description:  Bleeding Hydraulic Brake Lines

On 10/03/18 attempted to bleed the brake lines as per the instructions in the AeroConversions - Hydralic Brakes documentation. This was actually the second time brakes were bled. The first was when hydraulic master cylinder and brake lines were installed. The brake lines were disconnected when the brake back plate was replaces due to an error in fabrication. Some fluid was lost and air got into the lines at that time.

The first attempt was not successful. Each time we tried we would just move air bubles around but never completely get rid of them. I think the attempt failed for two reasons. 1. We did not use a good technique of applying brakes and releasing the bleeder valve. And 2. We were letting the Master Cylinder reservior get too low in the process which may have let air be pumped into the lines.

I researched a technique online which connected tubing that ran from the bleeder valve all the way back to the resevoir. so on 10/04/2018 we setup and implemented the new process.

Once the tubing filled with fluid then by applying brake pressure the fluid flowed all the way from the master cyinder to the resevoir snd air bubbles were pushed out while refilling the resevoir with each application of braking.

Also note that one person applies breakes while the other simaltaneously opens the bleeder valve. This allows fluid and bubles to pass throug the system. Do not release brake pressure while the leeder valve is open. Once closed the then the process can be repeated again and again untill all the air is removed.

I made a holer for the funnel fromsome scrape sheet metal so that I could have a hands free system for routing fluid into the resevior.
