I decided about a week ago to polish instead of paint my CH 701,(only polished top skin on rear portion of fuselage so far), this will save weight,maybe 15-20 lbs on the final empty weight. There are Many other weight saving things i will be doing as the project moves along, ... misc carbon fiber parts like the valve covers on my Corvair engine when it is installed. Many, many things will be open for consideration in keeping this 701 as light as possible.
I will eventually have a simple statement somewhere on the airplane a "Simple Clean" machine
Another example is simple things like this builder has done drilling holes in the floor supports of this flap control. I will be installing this same flap control in a similar fashion.
