Brief Description: Received a replacement F19-05 Cross Tie from Sonex
Received a replacement F19-05 Cross Tie from Sonex. The new part also has issues, appears the flanges on this part are not equal in width. The top flange is 3/32' short of 3/4" and the bottom flange is 3/32" longer than 3/4". The flange width is really not critical but the location of the prepunched holes in the flanges are. If the flange is too short or too long, they will not line up with the rear spar holes or the bottom skin holes. I notified Sonex and am waiting to hear back. If they have any of these Cross Ties in stock with correct flanges, I asked for a replacement otherwise I will cut the flanges off of my defective part and sister onto it new flanges probably made from 3/4" by 1/16" angle. Will use flush solid 3/32" rivets so the web of the cross tie will sit flush against the vertical channels. Will be difficult getting the new flanges located and drilled but I'm pretty sure I can do it, will just take time.
