Worked on Flaps: Filed and cleaned up the edges after cuting to length & size. Also cleaned up the slot for the actuator bracket. Made two drill guides out of 1/8 x 1" aluminum stock for the top and bottom of the flap ribs. Drilled the flap skins using the guides and then drilled the ribs in place.
Before I attempt any further drilling and riveting I plan to make a press to hold the flaps flat while drilling the hinge to the flap.Will also use the press when riveting the hinge. I can also use the press for the ailerons and the elevators & rudder since I have yet to rivet the elevator and rudder, still waiting on some BO'ed ribs.
I made a press using 11" by 4' Melemine bookshelves hinged together. Ripped one of the shelves about 3" in. Attache that ripped piece to the other shelf and then attached the remaining ripped 8" piece to the 3" piece with four hinges. I should now be able to set the flap, aileron, etc. onto the lower shelf and let the top hinged piece hold it flat against the lower shelf. I think the weight of the top shelf will be enough to keep the piece flat when drilling and riveting the hinge .
