So when a really good VFR day happens, it's foolish to only put a few hours in that are "comfortable." Let's get these 40 hours of prison time done with! I set my Rpm to an easy 2300 and began my 5 hour journey. The fuel burn at this setting is roughly 4-5 g/per hour so it's very affordable time building. Plus I still True out at 130kts so It's not a snail by any means. I even got to head over to Rough River (2I3) and shoot a couple practice approaches for this years up-coming fly in :) The North end runway approach is a devil due to the hill and crazy thermals. Plus it's 3000ft to due it right so not a lot of room for error. On my last leg I took her up to 8000ft and went WOT. The pic shows just over 151 kts IAS and 172 True. I've been told this is very comparible to an o-320 at altitude. The engine is fat and happy running just under 2900rpm. I tried backing it off to 2800 rpm and still got a solid165kts true. The fuel Burn at this setting and altitude is roughly 7 per hour or less. I'm still working with Garmin on fuel flow software so hopefully I can get a dead accurate number here soon.
