Brief Description:  Flap hinge pin

The instructions offer two methods of installing the flap hinge pin. I chose the second one which requires removing two lugs from the wing side hinge and one lug from the flap side and then cutting the pin in two (not exactly in half as the lug removal is not exactly semetrical). Then bend the central ends 90 degrees and safety wire them to the flap brace inside the flap. Inserting the pins in this manner is very difficult and requires gloves to prevent being cut by the curved flap edge.
I used Boelube as recommended by Dan Checkoway. Dan also advised me as to how to insert the two pin halves and safety them. The flap has to be tipped 90 degrees to the wing plane in order to access the hinge and slide the pins in place. An extra pair of hands would be helpful but I managed by myself.
But, as you can see by my photos, I did not use safety wire. Instead, a much better method was discovered. I took two ot the hinge lugs I cut out to make room for the pins and used them to make the holding device you can see in the photos below. Using a AN flush bolt and nut on the back side holding the two hinge lugs together did the trick. Removal is easy if ever necessary.
