Brief Description:  Drilling and Dimpling

After drilling the skins I removed the top and bottom skins and dimpled all remaining hole per the directions. I used the new dimple dies that I purchased from Cleaveland Aircraft Tools, with the little time I have using the dimpler, and I like the results better than the other set of dies. The first skin I dimpled with the dimple side facing down, it was sometimes tedious lining up the male pin this way, also I where it could scratch the skin lot easier.

On the second skin, I thought I would try dimpling the skins face up, so I turned and dies around and went to dimpling. As for which way one goes about it, I been told it is users preference. I liked the face up method using the DRDT-2 due to aligning the male pin up with the hole and being able to see the dimple without turning the entire skin over.

When it came time to dimple the spar, I was able the use my hand squeezer for all of them. The two on each end has a double thickness of metal where the rib fits on the inside. I squeezed them too, although it was not as deep as they needed to be, so I used the micro countersink to finish them off.
