While I was pondering as to what to do about the Rudder Control Horn issue, I took the time to begin the prep work on the two elevators. First order, sort out the stiffeners and cut them to length according to the pre-punch marks.
Using the metal Wiss snips that were once my grandfather, the angled stiffeners were trimmed to the correct lengths and sorted out in left and right groups. Below are the stiffeners for the left elevator, note the seven short "H" stiffeners. The left elevator has the trim tab, therefore the last few stiffeners are do not go across the entire width.
Once all have been cut and sorted, each one gets marked with a black sharpie and trimmed down using the band saw. After that the edges are smoothed and rounded using the Scotch-Brite wheel, and then by hand with red Scotch-Brite pads.
