Well I finally completed the first practice kit. It was my first attempt at riveting in very long time.
The sides turned out pretty good, but when I got around to the hinge I made several mistakes lining up the lid and body. Some of the dimples came out fine, other not so mush. All were done with the C-Frame and hammer. The hinge is set with AN426-3 rivets.
When it was time to install the handle I made a few more mistakes. The first, was not paying attention to the dimensions that was on the plans and bent the wire using the entire length. I drilled the four holes and riveted it place.
I drilled out the rivets, read the directions again, and re-bent the wire to the correct size. I drilled four new holes and riveted the handle back on. The five holes that I drilled in the top, I placed cut down rivets in and set them. Now on to the next practice kit.
