Brief Description:  Started Installation of Hydraulic (AeroBrake) Kit

The plans with this new kit offered by Sonex are somewhat difficult to read compared to the airframe kit plans. The views are difficult to comprehend and I have found some bolt callouts that are to long or to short. Maybe it is just me, but I made everything work correctly and safely like it should be with correct hardware being substitued.

I did have to grind the brake pucks down in order to get the axle nut to seat the wheel properly. Since I drilled the axle using the axle spacer the aerobrake system build-up is about 3mm less in total thickness so the axle bearings on the inboard side of the wheel half are not fully seated with out grinding down the pucks.

I would have built up the brake assemblies and done the axle drilling that way instead of using the axle spacer. Oh well, there is still plenty of material left on the pucks for many landings.

Other than rivets, no additional hardware is supplied with the AeroBrake kit. Nuts, bolts and nutplates have to be ordered separately.
