Brief Description:  Pilot Drilled Turtle Deck Skin & Fitted #5 Former

The turtle deck is starting to look something like a porcupine. Tonight I pilot drilled the skins to the aft fuselage side panels. I also took a lot of time trying to get the best fit for the #5 former. The plans assembly notes call for fitting this former first after the skin is fitted. The former is not 100% square and straight from being formed in a press. I had to tweak it a little and work to get a good fit with the curve in the turtle deck skin.

Also, the pilot hole just left of the centerline on the turtle deck is placed a little too far to the right and doesn't fall out exactly in the center of the former contact skin. It falls just inside part of the former flute. Not a big deal, but I'll have to bend that part out and maybe put a shim to take up any space between it and the skin.
