Brief Description: Piloted, Updrilled and Riveted Lower LH Stab Skin
The process for assembling the LH Stab went much more quickly since I recently completed the RH side. Tonight I fitted, piloted, updrilled, deburred and riveted the lower stab skin to the structure. Everything came out well, but I did run into a couple of small problems, I ended up having to trim the "nose" off of the outboard leading edge rib as well as the inboard rib. I did this on the RH side and didn't think much of it as it might have been a fluke. Turns out the LH side needed it also. When I was fitting the skin, the leading edge ribs were too long and made little indentations in the leading edge. These "dents" are noticable from the outside and would have been a problem long term. After trimming the ribs I fitted the lower skin and lacked about an 1/16" with it fitting up flush with the inboard trailing edge of the aft spar structure. I can smooth this out and even it up ater fitting on the fuselage.
