Brief Description:  Rework

I made a brief visit to the very cold hangar today to tend to a few details. I knew I had fabricated one of the tank attach angles using a 1" diameter instead of the specified1" radius when forming the top of the curve. (7th grade geometry has left me!!!) I was reminded by another builder who has visted the web log that this might not provide sufficient edge to hole clearance, and he helped me find the drawings and manual section that allowed me to check this. Sure enough, the part will need to be remade, and this builder even offered to send me his leftover angle to make the replacement. Thanks Miles!!!!

I also match drilled a replacement for the left tank cap flange, which arrived from Van's this week. I did not pay sufficient attention on the last one and the drilled waled a bit and one hole got out of position. So I ordered the replacement, and this time the drilling went fine.

This gets me to a point where I will put away all the tank components until Spring when it is warmer and I will have more full day sessions to dedicate to their construction.

I removed the leading edge from the spar and put it in the cradle. Then I checked for wing twist using a plumb bob against the main spar and measuring to the rear spar at the inboard and outboard edges of the wing. This looked to be perfect.

Last thing for the day was to put away a few other parts I had ordered from Van's.

Next on the agenda is to take off the right wing skins and start the deburr and dimple process.
