Brief Description: Prime and paint moldings and empennage fairings
We had a beautiful warm day today, which was perfect for the tasks to be completed.
First order of busiess was to sand the exoxy dress coat I applied to the trailing edge of the top molding. Next I did a final sanding of the empennage fairings and the wing tips, which need another coat of paint.
The Decathlon was rolled out of the hangar and I set up my portable paint booth. Fisrt I primed the empennage fairings, then moved the booth and primed the canopy base and top moldings.
When the primer dried to the touch I noticed some pinholes so used thick primer on the holes, then resanded when dry.
The canopy moldings were final coat painted, then the booth moved back t the center of the hangar and the empennage fairings and the wing tips were final coated with paint.
While everything dried I spent a few hours cleaning up in the hangar. When sufficiently dry the masking tapes and parer were removed from the fuselage.
